La Solitaire du Figaro is establishing itself in a sustainable way in Loire-Atlantique.

This Monday morning, Philippe Grosvalet, president of the Loire-Atlantique Department, and Hervé Favre president of OC Sport Pen Duick, the organizing company of the event, announced that an agreement had been reached until 2026 for the test celebrates each great departure and knows each outcome in one of the ports of the department.

And this from next year.

Between these two stages, the sailing race will keep its itinerant character by shining widely on all the Atlantic coasts, from the North Sea to the Bay of Biscay, that is to say off the French, Spanish, Irish and English coasts on a total of approximately 1,500 to 2,000 miles with 10 to 14 days at sea.

Departure in 2019 already ... in Nantes for the 50 years

"From La Solitaire du Figaro legends are born, we will therefore see them grow in Loire-Atlantique", rejoices Philippe Grosvalet.

Between La Solitaire and Loire-Atlantique, the love story does not date from today.

The 2020 edition, which ended with Armel Le Cléac'h's victory on Sunday, had its epilogue [last stage finally canceled due to the wind] in Saint-Nazaire.

We also remember that last year, for the 50th anniversary of the event, the start was given under the Saint-Nazaire bridge in Nantes.

Another link between this event and the department: all the boats participating in the Solitaire (Figaro Bénéteau 3) are built in Nantes.
