• Nintendo Switch is on track to overshadow Super Nintendo sales

  • Analysis: a day with Nintendo Switch Lite

Nintendo has abandoned the production of all models of its

Nintendo 3DS

, a laptop of which it sold 75.87 million units, according to its figures.

Thus, although its page is still active, it already appears as out of production for the first time in its ten-year history.

This closure came shortly after to the local pages, so that also in Spain it can be read that "the Nintendo 3DS family consoles are

no longer manufactured

."

The heiress of Nintendo DS - another historical laptop and absolutely intractable in terms of sales - came with more power and, above all, stereoscopic 3D screen as the main selling points.

Shortly after its release, a larger model arrived, the Nintendo 3DS XL.

Despite this, the beginnings were not as expected, since the 3DS had a hard time taking off and convincing;

There were many users who did not fully appreciate the possibility of playing in three dimensions and there were even complaints of people getting dizzy when activating the option.

Curiously, the low-cost version of this console gave up its three-dimensional characteristics and the hinge that came with these laptops.

Nintendo 2DS

and

Nintendo 2DS XL

(which did close) also managed to gain a place in homes thanks to their reduced price.

This latest model was the only one still on sale.

While it did not come close to the spectacular numbers of its predecessors (Nintendo DS sold 154.02 million units and 948.71 million games and Game Boy Advance reached 81.51 million consoles sold), its long 75 million were sold. they were well above their main rival, PS Vita, which was around 10 million.

Additionally, 3DS helped sell 384.07 million games at a difficult time for a Nintendo that struggled in the Wii U years.
