In a changing world, manufacturers of electronic products are rethinking their strategy. Several manufacturers assembling iPhones for Apple are considering moving their production to Mexico, reports Reuters, relayed by Presse-Citron .

Apple already has production plants in India. From now on, the manufacturers Foxconn and Pegatron, which assemble iPhones, would consider settling in the neighboring country of the United States. This would allow Apple to export its assembled smartphones without having to pay customs taxes.

A decision at the end of 2020

This solution would also avoid potential supply chain problems. Indeed, the trade war between China and the United States and the health crisis linked to the coronavirus complicate many stages of production and delivery.

For the time being, nothing has been done yet. Regarding Foxconn, a decision must be taken by the end of 2020 on the potential opening of a factory in Mexico. By then, Apple will have presented its new iPhone line in the fall. Smartphones will be equipped with 5G. According to rumors, four new models could appear on the market.
