The Seoul Metropolitan Government has instructed to wear masks indoors and outdoors for the time being, and from October, if caught, a fine will be imposed.

This includes cases of other local residents visiting Seoul.

The city has issued an executive order mandating the wearing of a mask at 0:00 on the 24th.

In a briefing on the 24th, Seoul quarantine control officer Park Yoomi said, "Until October 12th, we cannot impose a fine for not wearing a mask according to regulations."

Park explained, "If residents of other local governments do not wear masks in Seoul and are cracked down, the city will become the subject of administrative measures."

On the previous day, the Seoul Metropolitan Government issued an administrative order requiring residents and visitors to wear masks indoors and outdoors.

The disposition period was set from 0 o'clock on the 24th until the second stage of social distancing measures are lifted.

The Infectious Disease Prevention Act stipulated that the Minister of Health and Welfare or the head of a local government can order to comply with the quarantine guidelines, such as wearing a mask, by setting a region and period.

However, the current law does not have grounds for penalties.

The revised Infectious Disease Prevention Act provisions will be implemented on October 13th to impose a fine of 100,000 won or less for non-wearing masks.

With the recent Corona 19 epidemic again, Seoul City, Gyeonggi-do, Incheon-si, and Chungbuk-do have issued an administrative order obligating the wearing of indoor and outdoor masks.

Park said, "You should wear a mask indoors, except in private spaces. Outdoors, you should wear a mask unless there is no one around you or when it is unavoidable, such as eating."
