All year-round doctors who expressed opposition to government policies, including the expansion of medical school quotas, went on strike indefinitely with performances of taking off their doctor's gowns in hospitals nationwide.

According to the Korean Association of Majors, virtually all of the majors took part in strikes as an internship and a 4th year resident on the 21st, a 3rd year resident on the 22nd, and the 1st and 2nd year residents on the 23rd.

Of the 500 majors in Seoul National University Hospital, about 80% of the workforce participates in the strike with Kim Jung-yeop, the representative of the Seoul National University Hospital Majors Council.

Instead, essential medical services such as emergency, critically ill, childbirth, and dialysis and personnel for responding to the novel coronavirus were excluded from the strike.

In their talks, major doctors said, "We hope that the voices of experts in the field will be reflected in the decision process of medical policy. The government said that the number of doctors is insufficient, and they talked about increasing the number of medical schools and the establishment of public medical schools under the condition of compulsory service for 10 years. "Is there really not enough number of doctors?"

In particular, he added, "We sincerely ask for the government to lay down our pride and reach out to us," he added, saying, "Let's re-discuss policies such as expanding medical school gardens."

The Ministry of Health and Welfare said yesterday that it would withhold the policy to increase medical school expansion until the Corona 19 situation stabilizes and discuss it with the medical community, but continued group actions such as strikes, saying, "Temporary withholding is a word that deceives the people and medical personnel." I put forward a position that it is.

Seoul National University Hospital Representative Kim Jung-yeop said, "It is difficult to trust because the government has been deceived by the medical community and only changes words," he said. "If we discuss with the medical community at the origin, we can withdraw the strike at any time."
