BlackBerry is back. The Canadian brand has just announced the release of a 5G smartphone for the year 2021. True to its reputation, the company is already promising “highly secure” devices equipped, as always, with a physical keyboard, reports Presse -Lemon .

BlackBerry has called on Onward Mobility, a company specializing in cybersecurity, to develop a “suite of end-to-end encrypted security solutions” for its future device. The smartphone should be available from the first half of 2021 in the United States and Europe, according to Frandroid .

The decline of the 2010s

Little is known about the future phone, other than the historical presence of a physical keyboard. The terminal should run on Android and not a homemade OS, as was the case with the first BlackBerrys, which evolved under BlackBerry OS.

It is in any case an unexpected return after the decline of BlackBerry in the years 2010. The coup de grace for the brand fell last February, when TCL had abandoned the BlackBerry license. Since 2016, the Chinese company has been producing BlackBerry Keys, the brand's latest terminals.
