Supreme Court raised the hands of workers in a wage claim filed by 3,532 Kia Motors workers, saying, "Please recognize the regular bonus as normal wages."

In 2011, Kia Motors workers filed a lawsuit to pay additional wages of KRW 650 billion, saying that they should calculate severance pay and allowances, including regular bonuses, etc.

Including interest in the 430 billion won range, the lawsuit exceeds 1 trillion won.

The issue of this trial was whether the lawsuits of workers caused serious difficulties in the management of the company, that is, whether they violate the principle of good faith.

The court dismissed all appeals, saying, "It is reasonable to this court that the plaintiffs' claim does not violate the new rules of law in ordinary wage lawsuits."

"Based on Kia Motors' estimated funding size, it is not appropriate to argue that paying the extra wages these workers deserve is a significant threat to the company."

Earlier, the first trial decided to pay 422.3 billion won, which is 38% of the billed amount.

The second trial ruled in favor of some of the plaintiffs to pay 422.2 billion won, which was reduced by 100 million won, excluding only the lunch expenses and family allowances recognized in the first trial, and the Supreme Court confirmed this.

The Supreme Court said, "It is significant that it has reaffirmed the need to strictly judge the claims of the company's good faith."
