In recent weeks, a new button has appeared on the screen of some Netflix users. Below their profile picture, a “Shuffle Play” option now appears, reports TechCrunch relayed by 01net .

The famous streaming platform is testing a new feature offering random content to users. To better target movies or series that are likely to please, Netflix uses the history of the profile.

Only on television

By pressing this button, users will therefore be offered content that has already been started, a film, documentary or series saved in the playlist or even content similar to those already viewed.

The test currently only applies to users of the Netflix app on TV. This choice is not by chance: the platform wants to get closer to a more classic television experience. If successful, the feature will then be rolled out to other media, Netflix told  TechCrunch .
