In 2011, more than 27,000 Kia Motors employees filed a lawsuit against the company of KRW 65 billion.

This is a request to recalculate the severance pay and allowances by including the regular bonus in normal wages.

Both the first and second trial courts raised the hands of workers.

We decided that regular bonuses should be regarded as fixed wages, and that regular bonuses are also regular wages.

In addition, I thought that working hours should include breaks for those who are given 10 to 15 minutes during working hours, and working on Saturdays is also a holiday work.

However, the second trial court ruled that lunch expenses and family allowances should be excluded from normal wages, and that these workers should be paid 420 billion won.

The Supreme Court also accepted the intent of the court case.

It was concluded that none of the company's claims that ordinary wage lawsuits were excessive exercise of rights by workers who did not care about the company were not convincing.

Kia Motors has made an average annual profit of 1.7 trillion won since 2008, but it makes no sense that it can't pay more.

With the final decision of the Supreme Court, Kia Motors must pay an additional 50 billion won to workers who have not yet agreed.

The Korea Employers' Association expressed strong regret, saying that it was a ruling that increased the burden of labor costs and did not consider companies at risk from Corona 19.
