<Anchor> As

the first typhoon is forecast to land on the Korean Peninsula this year, tensions in the southern region are rising. This time, we will connect to a reporter in Tongyeong, Gyeongnam.

Reporter Ahn Hee-jae, the wind doesn't seem to be blowing yet. How is the situation there?

<Reporter> In the

Dongho Port of Tongyeong, where I am, from dawn, it rained and stopped while the wind was blowing a little.

It's been raining for a while now, but in the port you can see dozens of fishing boats already secured in preparation for typhoons.

The 5th Typhoon Rose, which is rapidly traveling north, is expected to land near Tongyeong at around 3 pm today (10th), and then pass Pohang to the East Sea at around 6 pm.

When landing in the Gyeongnam region, the central air pressure is expected to maintain around 1,000 hectopascals. The maximum wind speed is expected to reach 72 km/h and a lot of rain is expected, so caution is needed.

Reporter Ahn, the damage was large due to the long rainy season. How is your preparation for a typhoon?

<Reporter> We are

particularly concerned about damage to Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, which are included in the risk class.

Since yesterday evening, the city of Tongyeong has been informing coastal and low-lying residents to refrain from going out.

Many tourists visit the area during the holiday season, but he explained that if the typhoon warning goes into effect, the operation of tourist facilities such as cable cars can be temporarily suspended.

The Coast Guard is strengthening patrols, constantly checking the locations of ships that have gone out to the sea, and not putting any tension on them.

Other regions of Gyeongnam, such as Hamyang and Geochang, and the city of Busan also sent disaster safety messages to urge them to prepare for typhoon damage such as landslides.
