▲ Overturned ship pushed to Uiam Dam

Today (6th), Mr. A in his 20s who witnessed the ship overturning accident at the Uiam Dam in Chuncheon-si, Gangwon, and worked on fixing the aquatic island, explained that the accident occurred in an instant.

According to Mr. A, about 11:30 am today, a police boat was caught in a wire that was installed to protect the dam, and was submerged from the back.

To rescue this, the rubber boat and the administrative ship approached, but in turn sank.

Mr. A is said to have worked on aquatic island breakdown with two colleagues today.

It was a work of pushing and binding aquatic islands floating in the river to the riverside.


Mr. A and others once succeeded in binding aquatic islands, but the strap was broken due to the strong water flow.

He explained that an accident occurred while giving up and withdrawing the bonds.

There was also an eyewitness account of a person suspected of being missing and swept by the river near Baekyang-ri Station.

According to local residents, a scream of'evil' was heard, and when he turned his head, a person caught a red float and shouted, "Please help me."

It is said that the person who asked for help within a few seconds of the residents reporting disappeared from view.

According to the police and the fire department, three boats, including a police boat, a rubber boat, and an administrative ship, sank at the top 500m from Seoam Uiam Dam in Seomyeon, Chuncheon, Gangwon, at about 11:30 am today.

Eight people were on board three ships, of which one worker in a police boat managed to escape, and two were rescued, but one was killed.
