SeaBubble's flying shuttles on the Seine - Francis Demange

The production of SeaBubbles, the “flying taxis” on the water, will normally begin in January 2021. Deliveries will begin “six months later”, according to Alain Thébault, founder of the French start-up, reports Capital .

The designer is leaving himself until December to finalize the final version of his singular machine. Alain Thébault wishes to develop aquatic transport in large cities. The CEO promises “an absence of noise, waves, pollution and a vehicle that just spits out water vapor thanks to its hydrogen propulsion”.

"We are finalizing the final version of the SeaBubble until December, then it goes into production at the beginning of 2021 for deliveries six months later" specifies @Alain_Thebault - @SeaBubbles hopes to launch in 2021 the production of its flying taxis on the water. https://t.co/zxVoXPLi1f pic.twitter.com/tDG6cPlUNv

Nine SeaBubbles already ordered

The machine has seven places including one for the pilot. It can fly 50cm above the water using a hydraulic propulsion system. This rise makes it possible to obtain "30% to 40% less braking", assures Alain Thébault.

Fifty SeaBubbles are expected to go into production at a cost of 250,000 euros each. Nine have already been ordered. Several cities, including Dubai, Venice, Zurich and Paris, have expressed interest in this new mode of transport. It remains to remove certain constraints. In Paris, for example, regulations impose a maximum speed of 12 km / h on rivers, limiting the value of these taxis.
