The city of Incheon announced on the 18th that it was identified as the same species as a result of genetic analysis of the larvae found in the filter paper of the Gongchon water purification plant in Seo-gu and in the tap water at home.

Incheon City analyzed the genes of one larvae first found in the Gongchon Water Purification Plant and three larvae found in a family house in Wondang-dong, Seo-gu.

The city added that as a result of this analysis, it was confirmed that the larvae from the Gongchon water purification plant leaked through the water pipes to domestic tap water.

However, the joint thorough investigation team of tap water larva experts will continue to investigate how the larvae occurred in the Gongchon Water Purification Plant.

The city mentioned the possibility that the larvae occurred when the worms lay eggs on the activated carbon filter paper of the Gongchon Water Purification Plant, but the exact occurrence will be determined through investigations by the investigation team.

In Incheon, larvae have been found in tap water until the 17th since the first complaints related to larvae occurred in Seo-gu on the 9th.

As of 6:00 p.m. on the 17th, there were 357 complaints related to larvae, and 128 cases were found.
