2018, after the SBS radon bed was reported, the government abolished 70,000 mattresses and revised related laws, but there was no government-level survey on bed user health.


The Environmental Health Citizens Center analyzed 125 patients who had been diagnosed with cancer for five years from 2013 after using a radon bed with Professor Baek Do-myeong of Seoul National University's School of Public Health.

The ratio of the number of patients to the population at a given point in time is called the prevalence rate, and compared with the'five-year prevalence rate' in the national cancer statistics, the prevalence of lung cancer among radon bed victims was 5.9 times higher than that of the general population and 3.5 times higher than that of women.

The age group for cancer diagnosis was also about 10 years younger than the average.

The prevalence of cancer in people who have used radon beds for more than 5 years is more than twice as high as those who are less than 5 years old.
