Traffic lights arrive in Google Maps - Geeko

The Mountain View company continues to make improvements to Maps and regularly introduces new features. The latest one concerns traffic lights. These appear in the Google navigation application. They will give a better real-time overview of the route. Information that users of Maps, the Apple version of Maps, have known for some time.

The integration of traffic lights in Maps currently only affects American roads, but Google should most certainly display traffic lights for all roads in the world in the weeks and months to come.

More reliable routes

In addition, the app is limited to displaying the locations of the traffic lights for the moment. Although they are indeed visible on the map, the traffic lights do not yet display their state (green, orange or red) on Maps, but this should most certainly be integrated.

The routes calculated by Maps should indeed take into account the position of the lights and thus provide an even more reliable route estimate. Depending on the light cycle times, Google could effectively integrate this information into the calculation of its routes, but also display the state of the lights in real time on the map.

However, it will be necessary to be patient before seeing this novelty integrated in Europe.
