After Pokémon and Harry Potter , Niantic is tackling another license, that of Catan . This board game much appreciated by fans of board games is entitled to a new adaptation in mobile game. Obviously, since we find Niantic on the project, the porting of Catan on smartphones will be done in the augmented reality sauce.
In Catan: World Explorers , players embody an explorer who will have to accumulate resources to enlarge and make his village prosper. Using the very effective ingredients of Pokémon Go , the new mobile game from Niantic will offer its players to explore their neighborhood and city in augmented reality to harvest resources; wood, brick, wool, grain and ore
The beta will be launched this summer
Like the original game, Catan: World Explorers will encourage players to interact together to exchange resources. The latter may be abundant in certain regions of the world and may be limited in others. Players will also sometimes have to work as a team to complete missions and earn victory points that will give them access to rewards.
If Niantic has formalized its new creation, the studio has not yet announced a release date. The beta version should however be launched soon. The summer vacation could offer an ideal test phase, unless the studio prefers to launch its game in a more favorable health context. Pre-registrations are already open.
