Google offers a gadget that uses augmented reality to make one of the ten dinosaurs seen in the Jurassic World saga appear in your home . A smartphone is enough to virtually evolve in an apartment or, even better, in a garden, a Tyrannosaurus Rex, a velociraptor, a Triceratops, a spinosaur, a stegosaurus, a brachiosaurus, an ankylosaur, a dilophosaurus, a pteranodon or a Parasaurolophus, details the Californian giant on his blog this Tuesday.

The 3D functionality was developed by the company in collaboration with Universal Brand Development, Amblin Entertainment and Ludia, the publisher of the video game Jurassic World Alive . The technology used to model these reptiles was used to create the program accessible from the mobile search engine.

On iOS 11 and Android 7 or higher

"To create dinosaurs in 3D, our conceptual artists started with research to gather information on each species," explains Camilo Sanin, character manager at Ludia. […] The smallest details, such as irregularities in color or pattern in the skin, are important ”. The specialists have thus consulted numerous works on extinct animals but also paleontologists and the teams involved in the films of the successful series.

To access this function, you must perform a Google search on one of the species concerned on a mobile phone running at least iOS 11, or Android 7 or more. By clicking on the 3D visualization, the virtual reptile is displayed on the screen in the place where you are. Under Android, it is possible to hear the cries and footsteps of the animal, whose volume automatically adapts to the real environment. In iOS, however, you have to change the size of the dinosaur manually.
