About 5:40 pm, four out of five workers who were cleaning up at a manhole in a resource recycling plant in Seongseo Industrial Complex in Dalseo-gu, Daegu, were killed by gas poisoning.

It was reported that one worker who was working on cleaning collapsed in the manhole, and three other workers who went around went to the rescue and fell one after another.

Two of them, including a 56-year-old male A, have died, and the other two are receiving treatment at a nearby hospital because they have not recovered.

As a result of the measurement of gas concentrations by the fire department, it was found that hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen dioxide, and phosphine gas exceeded the allowable standard concentration.

Police believe that workers are most likely to have been suffocated by gas in the manhole and are investigating the exact cause of the accident against field officials.
