A phishing campaign has been targeting customers of the Darty brand for several months, reports Numerama . By sending false emails in the colors of the giant of the household appliances, the scammers try to recover the bank details of their targets. Many people have posted screenshots of this fraud on Twitter.

An email, allegedly sent by Darty, assigns the order of a laptop computer worth 959 euros. As the targeted Internet user has never ordered this device, he is then encouraged to cancel his order. It is then that the victim is redirected to a cancellation page on which they are invited to enter their bank details.

The leak does not come from Darty

The Fnac-Darty group is used to seeing its brands usurped for phishing campaigns. But it is of such magnitude that the brand warned its customers by email. "Darty will never ask you for a username, password or credit card number to cancel an order," reads. The company recalls that if a customer has inadvertently communicated his bank details, "it is necessary to quickly contact your bank in order to oppose your bank card".

This fraudulent campaign is particularly effective because it is personalized with the first and last names of the people who have been phished. "The data of customers who could appear on these fraudulent e-mails do not come at any time from a leak emanating from Darty", wanted to reassure the company. The practice is indeed common. The various coordinates were recovered after leaks from other services, tells Numerama .
