NASA previously reported the cessation of air exchange between the Russian and American segments of the space station to search for a source of benzene.

It is noted that the AQM-1 air analyzer made two measurements in the Russian segment of the ISS, after which a fuse was blown in the device.

“The device was returned to the American segment for analysis, which revealed a short circuit inside the AQM-1,” RIA Novosti reports.

After the device failed, the ISS crew restored air exchange between the Russian and American segments.

In May, Roscosmos reported that an increase in benzene concentration was recorded at the ISS, while it did not exceed the maximum permissible rate. The state corporation noted that there was no threat to the ISS crew.
