An alcoholic monkey with withdrawal syndrome has killed one person and injured 250 others in the Indian city of Mirzapur after suffering an outbreak of fury, local Gulf News reports.

Named Kalua , the ape belonged to a local occultist who was usually alcohol. After the death of its owner, the monkey developed withdrawal syndrome by becoming aggressive.

He came to attack hundreds of people who came across him, most of them women and children, destroying the faces of many and causing the death of a man.

After the local zoo workers managed to catch him, the monkey has been in isolation for several months. However, he has not changed his attitude and maintains the same aggressiveness. The doctor at the center has come to assure that "he will continue to hurt people wherever he goes."

That is why the Mirzapur Zoo has now decided to sentence the six-year-old ape to life in prison and will remain behind bars for the rest of his life.
