Google launches new social network - Geeko

Google's zone 120, a workshop dedicated to experimental projects, has just lifted the veil on its latest project; Keen. It is a new social network available on the Web and Android that offers its members to share their passion. For this, they can create “Keens”, collections of photos on specific themes, by adding a description and links to other resources. Network users can then ask visitors to collaborate on their Keens or subscribe to their publications. A concept that strongly resembles another, that of Pinterest.

"Keen lets you manage the content you love, share your collection with others, and find new content based on what you've recorded," says network co-founder CJ Adams. Thanks to machine learning, the network will be able to display content specific to its users, which they may like.

A precarious fate

Keen members can then manage what they see, organize their publications, collections and share their passion with other users. Network co-founder says "Keen is not intended to be a place [to spend] endless hours browsing", but rather "a place to develop them, share them with loved ones and find things that will help to make this precious life count. "

In terms of content and form, Keen is very similar to Pinterest, another platform on which users can publish and share original or non-original photos to share their passion and creativity. A concept that Facebook had already tried to reproduce with Hobbi. And as for the latter, Keen is above all an experimental project. It could disappear overnight if it does not meet the expected success.
