Twitter starts to vote. The social network said on Wednesday that it was now possible to record and tweet audio messages to its subscribers, as spotted by the Huffington Post . According to the social network, this function will allow users to clarify certain comments that may be too imprecise in writing.

But beware, just like classic tweets limited in number of characters, audio posts are also blocked at 140 seconds, 2 minutes and 20 seconds.

Only on iOS for now

To record an audio message, just press a dedicated button when composing your tweet. Reading is done simply by clicking on the generated file, as if it were a video. If the audio messages are too long, they are cut into 140-second files and added to the same thread. Twitter insists that only registration is allowed. The social network does not wish to host external music or podcasts.

This new feature is currently available on iOS devices (iPhone and iPad). Initially, only a limited number of users will be able to enjoy it.
