According to the Defense Ministry, on June 3, the first group of volunteer servicemen arrived at a special medical institution "to undergo a preliminary in-depth medical examination and prepare for an experiment to test a new vaccine in humans."

The vaccine has already passed the stage of testing for toxicity, safety and immunogenicity.

“The selection of volunteers was carried out among the military personnel undergoing military service under the contract,” the department said.

One of the requirements for participants is the absence of chronic diseases.

The ministry emphasized that the test should determine the safety and tolerability of the vaccine, as well as its immunogenicity, that is, the ability to cause the body to produce protective antibodies to a new coronavirus infection.

Earlier, the Central Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense said that preclinical trials of the vaccine against coronavirus infection were carried out on monkeys and hamsters, studies have shown the safety of the drug.
