Centr, Chris Hemsworth's fitness app charges all users $ 99 without their consent - Geeko

To keep busy during confinement, many people have downloaded one or more fitness or fitness apps. And what could be better than an application created by the interpreter of Thor? The latter also offered a special offer during confinement: a free 6-week trial that can be canceled at any time. In reality, it was not necessarily that simple.

Chris Hemsworth's app combines fitness, meditation, and meal planning tips. A concept that did not convince all the beneficiaries of the trial period who preferred to end their free test but the process did not go well for some of them.

On Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and in the comments of application stores, complaints against Centr have multiplied. Users reported that the cancellation process was complex. To end their trial period, Centr users had to use the same platform with which they had subscribed. Thus, if they had registered from an Android smartphone, they had to unsubscribe from it and not connect to the Centr website. In addition, depending on the platform, the cancellation process was different. This is why many users thought - wrongly - that they had terminated their subscription before the end of the trial period.

Others have admitted that they forgot to unsubscribe before the end of the trial period, but they assure that the app did not warn them of the end of the free trial period. They were therefore charged $ 99 for their unwanted one-year subscription to Centr.

If some users have managed to get their money back by complaining to customer service, this is not the case for all. Many users find the cancellation process to be voluntarily complicated and unclear.

Check your subscriptions on your smartphone

To avoid this kind of mishap, on Android, go to your account settings on the Play Store. In the Subscription tab, you can view the applications for which you currently have a subscription and delete it if you wish. On iOS, go to your phone's settings and tap your name. Then select "Subscriptions". You can also view your current subscriptions from the "iTunes Store and App Store" tab. Once connected, go to "Subscriptions".
