May 15th of this year is the 39th 'Master's Day' and the 623th birthday of King Sejong.

There are significant reasons why the two anniversaries that seem to have nothing in common are the same.

On May 26, 1963, the Day of Teachers was established as a gift of gratitude since students from the Gangnam Girls' Middle School and Red Cross Youth Red Cross in Chungnam Province visited retirement teachers every year.

The first event was held around the Youth Red Cross, but in September of the same year, schools from all over Chungnam joined, and the following year, 543 schools nationwide joined together and expanded to national events.

And finally, in 1965, through the agreement of the Youth Ethics Committee of the Korea Education Association, the birth date of King Sejong's lift was designated as 'Master's Day'. The day King Sejong was born is April 10, 1397 in the lunar calendar, and it is May 15 in terms of the lunar calendar.

This agreement includes the evaluation that King Sejong was the one who left the greatest achievements in the development of Korean culture and education, such as the creation of Hunminjeongeum, and hopes that the teachers of this era will be respected like King Sejong.

Today, as teachers' 'infringement insurance for teachers' has increased rapidly and applications for honorary retirement continue to increase, the meaning of' May 15 'conveys a more heavy message.
