Prosecutors investigating suspicions over the Samsung Group's merger of Cheil Industries and Samsung C & T has summoned Vice Chairman Choi Ji-sung again.

The Seoul Central District Attorney's Office for Economic Crime and Criminal Justice today (14th) summoned Vice Chairman Choi to investigate the overall decision-making process within the group's leadership during the merger with Samsung C & T in 2015.

Since 2012, when he was Chairman Kun-Hee Lee, Vice Chairman Choi took the lead in the unprecedented room for five years as the head of the Future Strategy Office.

Prior to his involvement in the 2017 Nongdan incident, Vice Chairman Choi was considered a 'two-factor' by Samsung Group and exerted a strong influence in the group decision-making process.

The prosecution believes that Vice Chairman Choi has led the reorganization of corporate governance to succeed the management of Samsung Electronics, Jae-yong Lee, as vice chairman.

Vice Chairman Choi was summoned to the public prosecutor's office several times after he was first summoned to the prosecution in February regarding suspicion of merger and was investigated.

The prosecution plans to investigate the vice chairman Lee Jae-yong sooner or later to end the investigation into suspicion of merger and decide whether to punish the main suspects.
