In 2019, according to an INSEE study, one in five people in France was unable to communicate via the Internet. In total, 13 million people today remain excluded from digital technology, either for lack of training or for lack of equipment. With the introduction of confinement on March 17, this isolation was sometimes felt severely in certain categories of the population, especially the oldest.

But these 55 days spent away from loved ones have sometimes been an opportunity to learn and take hold of digital tools or social networks. The videoconferencing or instant messaging platforms notably enabled certain families to keep a continuous link during this period.
