The screenshots are quite useful, to immortalize a frame of a video game, capture a 'moment' of a television program that we are watching in streaming to then make memes or even to illustrate articles on technology like this.
Taking screenshots on a mobile phone is as easy as pressing two buttons simultaneously, but on PC you still continue to depend on Paint to paste and save the capture made with Impr Pant. We have good news, there are faster methods.
The keys that will require your attention are: Print Screen or PrtScn (print screen) which is usually located in the upper right corner (in laptops this key can have two functions, so to use the aforementioned you must press Fn), Win that it is usually identified with the Windows logo (Windows) that is usually housed between the Ctrl (control) and Alt (alternate) keys.
Classic Commands
Pressing print screen (Print Pant or PrtScn) will capture the entire screen (including the taskbar) but it does not save a file with the image, it will remain on the clipboard until we paste it into Paint or any editing program. This is the most widespread and slowest technique, as we pointed out previously.
However, with Alt + Print Screen we will capture only the active window, with no taskbar or other screens that are open in the background. Although it will not be saved as a file either and we will have to depend on some editing program.
Advanced (and faster) commands
Leaving aside the commands that we dragged from the first versions of Windows, those of the 90s that the cast of the Friends series sponsored, we plunged into the real shortcuts, welcome to 2020 (although it is not being a great year for now, that Let's say).
To make a screenshot of the entire screen and have it saved directly to a file (specifically in a .png), just press Win + Print Pant . The capture will be saved by default in C :, User, our username, Images and Screenshots. The Images shortcut can also be quickly accessed from This Computer (My Computer).
Pressing Win + Shift + S will activate the Cropping and Sketch program that comes integrated with the latest versions of Windows 10 (if it is not the case, it can be installed for free from the Microsoft Store). At the top of the screen, which will be slightly dimmed in gray, a toolbar will appear that will allow us to make a free-form, rectangular capture, only of the active window or of the full screen. After choosing the type of capture a notification will appear, after pressing it the program will automatically open allowing us to modify the capture and save it where we choose.
Another option for quick captures is through the Xbox Game Bar, which also comes natively in the latest versions of Windows 10 but that we can also find in the Microsoft store. To access you have to press Win + G , after they will display different widgets, among them the screenshots that will be saved in C :, User, our username, Videos and Captures. Likewise, direct access to Videos is found in This Equipment. It may happen that it is not activated by default, from Settings, Games and Game Bar we can do it.
The Win + Alt + Print Pant command is a shortcut to the previous option, avoiding having to open the Game Bar and making it easier for us to access the saved capture file by pressing the notification that will appear after pressing the combination.
Finally, for the more 'pro' you can configure the Print Screen key to directly open the screen clipping bar from the Start, Settings and Keyboard menu.
