Apple has just announced the launch of a major development competition for students around the world. It is called the Swift Student Challenge. To participate, you have to create a demonstrable experience in three minutes on Swift Playgrounds, a development initiation application available on iPad, reports Numerama .

No need to be a specialist

"It's a way for us to reward the creativity of young people and encourage them to collaborate," said Esther Care, developer marketing manager at Apple. If there is no jackpot to be won - only a sweater and a pin -, the rewarded students may however stand out: Apple will announce the results at WWDC, its traditional conference for developers. It will only take place virtually this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Students have until May 18 to complete their project. According to Esther Care, it is not compulsory to be specialized in the field to prevail. Apple wants to reward both creativity and the concept of experience. Students from artistic or literary streams can also participate. "Technologies should not just solve technological problems," said the developer marketing manager. The only condition to be able to participate is to be over 16 and to be in school.
