“Short anti-war phrases were selected for the application, paying tribute to the veterans and the world for which they fought 75 years ago,” said the author of the idea, Kirill Karnovich-Valois. “The letters in these phrases are written in the real handwriting of the soldiers who reached Berlin and signed on the Reichstag building.”

The application is available for iPhone and iPad, it can be downloaded for free here. Point the phone’s camera on the wall and place one of the labels on it, adjust the text size (at the first stage) and color (at the second). A photo or video can be shared on social networks.

For the inscriptions we used the unique font “May”, designed specifically for the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II. In the spring of 1945, Soviet soldiers left hundreds of graffiti on the walls of the Reichstag in Berlin. These inscriptions, full of joys of victory and the bitterness of loss, formed the basis of the font, making prototypes of each letter. The May font itself can be downloaded here.

Even in the application “Victory Pages AR”, you can “revive” the illustrations for some front-line letters that are published on the Instagram project. And also, “singing posters” by the famous artist Pyotr Bankov will soon be available: pointing the camera at the image, you can hear a war song hidden in the poster.

📝 “Dear Talyushka! It’s hard to start with stereotyped words: when you receive this letter, I will no longer be alive. But this is so, and one must put up with reality (...) ⠀ ⠀ I know that it will be difficult for you to put up with the thought of losing Zhenya. But please do not take any vows. Try to dispel everything gloomy faster. Make your life happy. And we must agree with this. (...) ⠀ ⠀ It's like everything. I wanted to say so much, to find warm words with which to express our feelings. But you already know your Zhenya well and understand perfectly. After all, right? ⠀ ⠀ I wish you happiness, health and a good spirit. Be a good girl. Do not be very sad. You can’t help this. Этим ⠀ Make your life happy so that you can live for me. ⠀ ⠀ Sometimes remember Zhenya, but without sadness, but with the thought that he did not die in vain. ⠀ ⠀ Be happy. ⠀ ⠀ Eugene who loves you.
