A trapped text message is currently circulating on iPhones. It causes the smartphone to stop working immediately for those who receive it. Composed of characters in Sindhi language, it is sometimes accompanied by the emoji of the Italian flag. This latest example of text bomb ("bomb-text" in French) is also rampant on iPads, Macs and Apple watches, indicates the specialized site 9to5 Mac .

The malicious message could have come from the Telegram messaging app. He would then have been relayed on Twitter, WhatsApp, the Messages application and many social networks and instant messengers. It is therefore likely to crash thousands of devices simultaneously and immediately damage the terminals without the user clicking on a link.

Latest iOS version affected

Among the Apple products vulnerable to this attack are devices running iOS 13.4.1, says ZDNet . This is the latest version of the company's Apple operating system. Any iOS 11 model receiving this text bomb will also crash the Messages app and other terminal programs. A forced restart of the phone is then necessary, as shown in the video of the phenomenon shared on Twitter this Thursday.

The beta version of iOS 13.4.5 does not seem to be affected by the problem. Apple would indeed have incorporated a patch preventing the outcome of this attack. The Californian giant could also advance the release of the latest version of its mobile operating system in order to offer protection to its users more quickly.
