“Indeed, in Moscow and in Russia as a whole, there has been a tendency to decrease the total number of new cases of COVID-19 starting from April 20, 2020,” RIA Novosti quoted Vujnovich.

She stated that "this is encouraging."

However, she noted that in some regions at the moment, positive dynamics are not observed. So, for example, in the Murmansk region, according to her, the growth of cases in recent days has increased from 10 to 19%.

The representative of WHO emphasized that “it is necessary to make sure that positive changes are happening everywhere in the country for a rather long time” before “speaking with confidence about the passage of the peak incidence rate”.

Vujnovich added that at the moment “it can be said that the restrictive measures applied are working and the system as a whole is coping with the epidemic in the country.”

It was previously reported that the number of cases of COVID-19 in Russia increased to 62,773, at 4,774 per day.
