At the writing of this article, the Frosthaven game has already totaled 6.3 million euros in investments in its crowdfunding campaign. Launched on March 31 by the creator of the game, Isaac Childres, it aimed to raise $ 500,000 before May 1, the equivalent of around 460,000 euros. Barely a week later, investments are breaking the ceiling and the 6 million euro mark is largely exceeded!
The reason for such success? Frosthaven is the sequel to the role- playing game Gloomhaven, released in 2017, a game that quickly established itself as a must-have in the genre. Add to that extensions as well as a video game derived from the board game released in 2019 and rated 9/10 by the Steam community, and you will understand that Cephalofair Games, the publisher of the game, has created a solid fanbase ready to follow him in the continuation of his adventures. There is no doubt that the confinement and the desire to discover new regions contribute to this enthusiasm for the crowdfunding campaign!
Long service life
Frosthaven is a role-playing game that can be played by 1 to 4 players. It includes a map of the heroic fantasy universe of the game, different game boards, card decks, figurines, etc. Players choose one of the six types of characters at the start of the game, and then must equip them at throughout the game and evolve it throughout the adventure punctuated by battles against monsters. The big strength of Frosthaven is that there are a hundred different scenarios, allowing to redo many games without going in circles.
A big lifespan that puts into perspective the 100 dollars requested for the basic game (around 92 euros) during this Kickstarter campaign. The latter still offers a nice discount since the public price is set at 160 dollars (about 147 euros). Of course, several packs exist, all more or less complete and with more or less accessories.
