Although the brotherhoods will not go through the streets of the Andalusian capital this year, there are various events planned that allow you to see "delayed" the biggest night of Easter

Coronavirus, latest news

This year, the confinement makes it impossible for the six brotherhoods that participate in the Madrugá in Seville to do their penance in the streets. To solve this problem, alternatives have been created that allow you to live such a special night , even if it is virtual and delayed .

BASIC DATA

The Madrugá takes place from midnight on Thursday until 14:00 on Friday. Six brotherhoods participate in it (El Silencio, El Gran Poder, La Macarena, El Calvario, La Esperanza de Triana and Los Gitanos) that process through the main arteries of Seville (Calle Sierpes, Plaza de San Francisco, La Campana). This year will be the third time that no steps are seen on the street : the first was in 1933 and was canceled for political reasons in the context of the Second Republic, and, in 2011, the brotherhoods could not leave due to the rain.

HOW TO SEE AND HEAR IT IN "DEFERRED"

A classic of Seville's Easter for many who see it on the spot are radio programs, which serve to locate where each of the brotherhoods is located. On Canal Sur Radio , one of the reference media in this regard, the Andalusia at Easter program will start at midnight and will last until 8 hours. Those responsible indicate that it will be "something special dedicated to the Madrugá in Seville, with historical recordings of this unique day that will allow listeners to experience it with the same intensity as each year." For its part, Canal Sur Televisión will include images of the Madrugá de Sevilla (and those of Málaga, Sevilla, Huelva and Jaén) last year, with a 14-hour special that will start at 11.10 p.m. From the regional channel they point out that these images, taken a year ago, gave rise "to a historical broadcast because it required a significant operational effort of around 200 people, including technical and foreign personnel, with the aim of showing the wealth of Andalusian cultural heritage associated with the celebration and a careful soundtrack. "

Also another television channel, Trece TV , plans to dedicate a space to the Madrugá de Sevilla in its national programming starting at midnight. Specifically, they will reissue the program they carried out last year .

At Cope , the Madrugá will be present in a special program turned into a vigil of prayer, reflection and processional marches from midnight to 7 a.m. On Friday, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Carlos Herrera will present a program dedicated to processional marches throughout Spain, including those in Seville.

In web version there are many alternatives. One of them is carried out by the General Council of Brotherhoods and Brotherhoods of the City of Seville , the body that brings together all those public associations of the faithful erected as brotherhoods and brotherhoods of the Seville capital. On their YouTube channel and on Facebook they have recovered the best daily moments of the Easter processions. For this Thursday, they plan to start their broadcast at midnight.

Some brotherhoods have also joined this initiative. For example, La Esperanza de Triana will premiere the movie Who has said that this year Esperanza does not come out this year on her YouTube channel ? This will be followed by the live broadcast of the Holy Way of the Cross prayer from the Chapel of the Mariners . On its Twitter and Facebook channels, this brotherhood will offer extensive photographic and audiovisual content grouped under the hashtag # EsperanzaDeTriana20 .

For its part, the brotherhood of La Macarena will offer the live signal inside its basilica, where the exercise of the Way of the Cross will be prayed until Friday at 1:00 p.m., coinciding with the scheduled time for the end of the penance season . These images will be seen in streaming on the Youtube channel and on the Brotherhood's Facebook page. And the brotherhood of El Silencio will offer on its YouTube channel, from 1 a.m., the movie Gloria Nazarenorum .

Other YouTube channels such as El llamador sevillano or La saeta web count these days by thousands of fans who are enjoying their broadcasts from previous years and also plan to offer images from previous years of Madrugá.

MOMENTS NOT TO BE MISSED

Among the great moments offered by the Sevillian Madrugá three could be highlighted: one of them would be the departure of Jesús del Gran Poder , considered the Lord of Seville , from the Basilica of Jesús del Gran Poder, in the San Lorenzo neighborhood. Another, the arrival in his neighborhood of Esperanza de Triana , in which the crowded balconies and the showers of petals are interspersed with some arrows. And finally, the arrival at the Macarena temple . An act that gathers thousands of people around the Basilica located near the current seat of the Andalusian Parliament.
