While artificial respirators are lacking during the Covid-19 epidemic, large groups are using their technologies to make them. Dyson thus managed to produce it using only parts from its products to deliver it to the British government. Tesla is on the same path. The automaker designed a model using parts from Model 3, reports Futura-Sciences .

In a video published this Sunday April 5 by the manufacturer on YouTube, Tesla engineers show what, for now, is only a prototype. They used parts of the heating system, ventilation and air conditioning, they say.

They also retrieved the touch screen from the Model 3 dashboard. It will display the respirator data (pressure, flow and air volume) and configure it. As for the control of the machine, it will be ensured thanks to the on-board computer of the car. Its computing power will be sufficient to manage the opening and closing of the valves in order to control the air flow of the device.

According to one of the engineers, "there is still a lot of work" to make these respirators on a large scale. The Elon Musk firm does not communicate any production date.
