Snapchat launches a special social distance filter - Geeko

All means are good to sensitize the population to respect health recommendations to avoid the spread of the coronavirus. Companies are multiplying initiatives to make their users aware of this cause. In the case of Snapchat, this goes through new filters.

The snapshot application has developed two new special filters related to the fight against coronavirus. These filters were developed in collaboration with the World Health Organization. The first allows you to know if you are respecting the safety distance recommended by the WHO.

A good way to keep your distance

By playing the “My social distance” filter, the application detects people around the user. If they are too close, the circle in augmented reality indicates it in red, if the distance is good, the circle remains green.

The second filter reminds users of the hygiene measures to be observed during this complicated period. The application therefore invites users to wash their hands, stay at home and avoid touching their faces.

Both filters link to the WHO website for more information regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

Already deployed in the United States, these two new filters should soon arrive in Europe.
