Lisboa (Itziar Ituño) and Sierra (Najwa Nimri) in a frame from the fourth season of 'La Casa de Papel'. Netflix

Today opens the fourth season of 'La Casa de Papel', the series about the most media gang robbers of all time. Actress Itziar Ituño, aka Lisboa, talks about her character and where she believes the success of this story lies

How will The Professor react by believing that Lisbon has died? Will Nairobi save his life? Will Rio and Tokyo be together again? And, above all, will the media gang of robbers sing the Bella Ciao , their victory hymn again, or will Inspector Sierra get into the Bank of Spain and put them behind bars? These and other questions will find answers in the fourth season of La Casa de Papel, the most watched Spanish series in history , which opens today. For its part, Netflix has already warned viewers: "Prepare for chaos."

"It will continue the constant of surprises from previous seasons", anticipates Itziar Ituño (Basauri, Vizcaya, June 18, 1974), formerly the Inspector Raquel Murillo, now Lisbon and a partner of the Professor, one of the characters who has evolved the most Throughout these 30 episodes, this new installment will begin just as the previous one ended: "With problems".

The character of Raquel is the one that has undergone the most profound transformation when passing from the side of justice to that of the enemy. How have you prepared for this evolution? I'd say it's the other way around, look. When Raquel becomes Lisbon is when she goes to the side of justice. She simply stops believing in the order of things and the established system that she defended when she was a police inspector. That the character makes that dramatic arc so interesting cannot make me happier. It's an adventure. In the third season, Sierra was much faster than Murillo had been in deciphering the Professor's plans. What do you have that Lisbon did not have? What is the difference between them? They are two characters with great strength, a fight of two very marked identities . Sierra has instinct, like Murillo, and plays with advantage because he already knows the professor's modus operandi as it is the second round of the gang. However, what Sierra has that Raquel does not have is cold blood and zero regard. He doesn't care who falls in order to catch the Professor. Lisbon and Sierra are like day and night. In principle, nothing to see ... Although day and night meet every day at sunrise and sunset.

Almost all stories have a love component that gives them meaning. I think it makes them deeper. "

More than 34 million viewers watched the third season in the first week after its premiere. Where do you think the success of this series lies? I think there are several factors that have influenced its success. On the one hand, the originality of the story made many people hook up. Later, plot twists, character evolution, and intra-stories have done the rest.Another key to this series is that viewers identify with the gang of thieves. What comments do you get from the fans? Do you empathize with the inspector who falls in love with the Professor? The difference between good and evil is very relative and questioning the established order is to the liking of the audience . The good ones are not always the ones that seem to be and vice versa. Fans perceive that the inspector has a big heart and is guided by her own feelings, which makes her closer. It is easy to empathize with her. There is also no lack of love relationships: Tokyo and Rio, Stockholm and Denver, Lisbon and the Professor ... Is love a central element of any plot, even if it is about a heist? It is an element that always has a lot to say. Almost all stories have a love component that gives them meaning. I think it makes them deeper. How was the filming of this fourth season? Any anecdote you can tell? We had to shoot in the summer in Madrid, in the heat wave . They dressed me in GEO, wearing balaclavas, a helmet, gloves ... at midday, at 40 degrees. I had to get out of a vehicle that would be about 50 degrees. I made the scene half dizzy and sweating. Best of all, the mood and humor of the entire team never waned. It is a pleasure to work with people with such human quality.
