Tesla founder Elon Musk, presenting his electric semi-trailer, in 2017 - Véronique DUPONT

A prototype of Semi, Tesla's truck, was spotted this Sunday in the United States when the electric vehicle obviously returned from tests in real conditions. A truck driver who films his trips saw the truck transported by a semi-trailer. The images quickly circulated, especially on Reddit .

They show the Semi covered with a thick layer of dirt. The Electrek website reports that these photos would be proof that the prototype returned to California after a period of testing in Alaska in an extreme winter climate. The truck also had license plates from this American state, the most northern of the country.

"Several weeks of winter tests"

Last February, a copy of the Semi had already been seen by a witness in Canada. He was on a truck traveling north. People closely following Tesla news then estimated that the electric vehicle with the announced autonomy of 965 kilometers was on its way to the manufacturer's test site in Alaska.

In January, the brand announced that the Semi "was preparing for several weeks of winter tests to confirm the truck's performance in the cold and in poor traction conditions". The production of the model presented for the first time in 2017 has not yet started. It was originally planned for last year and was postponed to 2020.

Tesla may have to modify its production schedule. The company is now facing the coronavirus crisis. Elon Musk was also committed to producing respirators in the event of a shortage.
