El Hormiguero returned to Antena 3 on Monday, March 23 with a new version of the program, in which different collaborators accompany Pablo Motos at his table and the guests are interviewed through video calls. Antonio Banderas was one of those who intervened in his delivery on Tuesday, March 24.

From his home in Malaga he spoke about the situation in Spain due to the coronavirus and was critical of the government's management. "There is something I do not understand about this whole crisis," he said, referring to the lack of equipment for health professionals because "they probably did not anticipate this previously."

The actor declared: "I don't want to enter politics or anything here, but it is very unfair that these people are working under the conditions that they are working on."

The lessons of the crisis

The presenter recalled that the guest had suffered a heart attack and spoke about the fragility of people. He wanted to know if Banderas believed that society will learn something from what is happening. The interpreter replied: "I am a pathological optimist ... I think so."

The Andalusian stressed that "there are two fundamental things that leap out of this crisis." First, he explained, " We are very vulnerable . An invisible monster that has come upon us shakes the whole world and turns us upside down. It is too easy, right? But it is so."

He then said that the quarantine has highlighted "the need we have for each other." He applauded the efforts of various sectors in these circumstances: "I am very excited to see the work of those professionals who are keeping this alive, especially the toilets. Tears fall every time I see the news and I see these people who are working against the wall".

He also praised the security forces, farmers and transporters: "There are a number of groups, which are working these days, that I am deeply moved by." He spoke about the people on the balconies and concluded: " There is something we should learn and some will be positive about this."

The Flags advice

Pablo Motos asked Antonio Banderas what recommendations he would make to entrepreneurs at this time. The interviewee spoke about aid from the European Union and asked those affected to have patience and not lose their cool. Then he assured: "I don't have a magic formula at all."

The actor was not very optimistic when talking about the country's economy. He predicted that citizens will not go out to consume at the end of the quarantine, since it will cost them to visit closed and crowded places again.

Your personal situation

Antonio Banderas confessed in El Hormiguero: Stay at home that confinement is going lonely, since his girlfriend, Nicole Kimpel , was in Geneva when the borders closed. She is accompanied by part of her family in this Swiss city.

The protagonist of Dolor y Gloria shared that he was dedicating his time to household chores: "Cleaning, putting washing machines, doing food ... I am becoming a kind of Robinson Crusoe ". He indicated that the kitchen was quite good: "I make rare films and very delicious rice."
