Coronavirus: a virtual assistant suggests activities at home - Geeko

The new “What to do at home” functionality was born at Hola Julia. It was created following confinement due to Coronavirus. A category "which aims to offer users ideas for home activities during this confinement" explains the founder of the startup Cédric Cella.

The Hola Julia program gives the impression of chatting with a real person on Messenger, named Julia. Julia normally helps users find places to go out, eat, study or have fun. In periods of confinement, the founder adapts and offers activities at home rather than addresses of restaurants or bars. Users can choose from 100 recommendations for streaming, board games, app and games or even podcasts.

The category also offers activities with children and educational practices. But also recommendations for a book, a cooking idea, or a sports activity.

In practice

When we question Hola Julia on game recommendations, she offers for example six free proposals: Rayman Adventures , Hearthstone , Uno , RAID: Shadow Legends , The Sims and Slither.io. And five paid proposals: Monument Valley , Monopoly , The House of Da Vinci , Worms 4 and The Room .

The concept does not yet incorporate artificial intelligence. The user should always use Hola Julia's predefined answers. References and subcategories will continue to be updated in the coming days.
