According to the quarantine authorities, the rate of 'asymptomatic' with no obvious symptoms among the coronavirus infectious disease-19 (corona19) patients in Korea is high.

Chung Eun-gyeong, head of the Central Defense Countermeasures Office, said today (16th) at a briefing held at the Osong Center for Disease Control in Chungbuk Province.

"There are many parts that are diagnosed in asymptomatic condition while being examined early from the contact point," said Jung. "There were no symptoms at the time of diagnosis, but symptoms often occurred during quarantine management."

"There are a lot of asymptomatic symptoms due to the initial diagnosis, and some 20% are asymptomatic even when they are discharged."

Next, he explained that the clinical characteristics of domestic confirmers will "help us understand some epidemiologic characteristics of the disease."

However, General Manager Jung said, "It is not yet clear whether the asymptomatic disease is contagious." So far, we have not confirmed any cases of asymptomatic infection or transmission with clear objective evidence.

In addition, he added, "We are also conducting a planning investigation on this part."
