  • While Huawei wants to save face despite the American embargo that prevents it from housing Google software in its smartphones, the Chinese rival Oppo occupies the field.
  • With its future Find X2 Pro which it has just announced and which will be available in May, Oppo wants to assert itself in the world of premium smartphones sold for more than 1000 euros and gives itself the means.
  • 5G, equipped with a large Amoled screen, all-terrain photo modules and a super-fast charging system, the Find X2 could reshuffle the cards on the high-end telephony market.

When we talk about the invasion of Chinese manufacturers on the smartphone market, we obviously think of Huawei, but also of Honor, Xiaomi or OnePlus. Another troublemaker wants to find a place in the sun: Oppo. Arrived in Europe in 2018, the manufacturer has just announced its Find X2 Pro, a 5G smartphone that has serious arguments to damn the pawn to Huawei, currently constrained by an American embargo which prevents it from integrating the Google suite in its smartphones…

Impeccable design

Announced for May 2020, the Find X2 Pro is already in the starting blocks . Oppo, its manufacturer, has just revealed it.

Launched in 2004 in Asia, the Oppo brand (first specialized in the manufacture of MP3 players and Blu-ray players), had surprised with its Find X launched in Europe two years ago. It was the first smartphone with a pop-up front camera.

Forgotten this mechanism: Oppo returns to a front camera integrated in a punch on the screen, which this time allows it to offer with the Find X2 Pro a waterproof and dust-resistant smartphone (standard: IP 68).

With a 6.7 '' / 17 cm Quad HD + Amoled screen (3168 x 1440 pixels), the Find X2 Pro achieves an impeccable design. As with Samsung's new Galaxy S20 and S20 Ultra, this so-called “borderless” screen only reveals a tiny outline, while in its tiny bubble, the 32-megapixel front camera is barely noticeable.

Another specificity: a refresh rate of 120 Hz against 60 Hz usually. This is a peculiarity that we find more and more on high-end smartphones. It has the advantage of offering significantly more fluid images. At the same time, the 120 Hz siphons off the battery much faster… The fact remains that two stereo speakers have taken place in the Find X2 Pro and that the Dolby Atmos sound system is on board.

Full recharge in 38 minutes

At the rear of the Find X2 Pro (covered with a choice of vegan leather - therefore faux leather - or granite-colored ceramic), the manufacturer has summoned a trio of 48, 48 and 13 megapixel photo sensors *. Our brief grip reveals a visibly good 10x hybrid zoom. Note that Oppo offers a digital zoom up to 60x, it is a little less than that of the Galaxy S20 Ultra which reaches 100X. Still, Oppo claims "the best camera in the market", which should be checked in a few weeks.

The manufacturer takes the opportunity to take care of the video with the promise of visibly quite promising stabilization, that of being able to film in HDR, but also to quickly perform its editing using the integrated tool called "So Loop". To have.

Boasting a 4260 mAh battery, the Find X2 Pro should offer a good day's autonomy. But it is on its SuperVOOC 2.0 rapid charging system that Oppo focuses. Using its 65W charger, the new smartphone would be able to make a full total of energy in 38 minutes (60% of the battery in 15 minutes). This speed of loading seems to become a major axis of development among the manufacturers of smartphones.

Huawei resists

Under Android 10, powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 865 processor, the Find X2 Pro will arrive with an internal memory of 512 GB / 12 Gb. He clearly wants to strengthen the positioning of the brand on the high end.

Where only Apple, Samsung and Huawei were fighting a few months ago, the match of smartphones over 1000 euros is expanding to new players. But the game also risks becoming increasingly tight. And the cards are already shuffled.

Huawei, which will announce its new P40 on March 26 (without Google software), will it be able to stand against these brands which, with Android 10 on board their smartphones, are more and more likely to overshadow it? ? When the misfortune of some ...

* Or an ultra wide angle module (120 °, with the possibility of macro photos up to 3 cm); a wide-angle module; as well as a 10 x hybrid periscope zoom.
