The '25 +1 'tour of the Madrid duo arrives in the capital with a repertoire of past successes and with the collaboration on the stage of friends from the world of music

27 platinum records, six gold, one diamond ... Despite whoever weighs it, Camela and its fusion between rumba and techno are already part of the history of Spanish music. A year after publishing his latest compilation album, Rebobinando , Dioni Martín (Madrid, 1970) and Ángeles Muñoz (Madrid, 1974) have returned to the road with the 25 + 1 tour, which started in January and Saturday, March 7 in Madrid with the sign hanging "there are no tickets".

Electronic flamenco, techno rumba ... of all the labels that have been placed on your music, which one do you think best fits your style? Techno Camela, I don't think there's a better way to define what we do (Angels). I'm worth all those tags. But the important thing is that we were pioneers in this type of music and, now, when you hear something similar, you identify it directly with us (Dioni) .How has been the adaptation to this new musical ecosystem in which online platforms are the main window for artists? For us, who started in another era, it becomes much more difficult. Now the promotions in social networks of the singles are more important than the albums themselves and tours. But we have ended up adapting and that, in addition, has earned us so that Camela also reaches a younger audience. When did you realize that you could live on music? This was always a hobby. When we released the first album in 1994 and they told us that we had sold a million copies we were not aware of what we had done. Then, in 1995, success was repeated with the second album and I think that was the moment when we thought we could make a career in this world.

We got our first contract with a record company because our cassettes were sold at gas stations. There were also Alejandro Sanz or Julio Iglesias tapes, I don't think we have to be ashamed of anything

Does it become monotonous to constantly remind you that your career began selling cassettes at gas stations? We are already used and very proud to have started from below. Thanks to these tapes we got our first contract with a record label. In the gas stations there were also cassettes of Alejandro Sanz or Julio Iglesias, I do not think we have to be ashamed of anything. It seems that, after more than a quarter of a century of career, the recognition of criticism finally arrives. There have always been means that have taken us into account since the beginning, as is the case of Radiolé . But we do not hold a grudge against those who did not. It is true that for three or four years it seems that the treatment is much better. Even this year they have finally nominated us for an Odeón Award (successors of the Amigo Awards), something that had not happened to us in 25 years. The idea of pure and romantic love seems to have been lost over the years, but it is still the main theme of your songs. Romanticism with Camela never dies. I think that, like the fusion between techno and flamenco, the love theme of our songs is also part of our style. It is our seal. Although also, to a lesser extent, we have touched on social issues on some issues, such as racism or gender violence. What did Miguel Cabrera's departure from training in 2013 mean? The first thing I thought was: "Camela is over." Miguel was very important in the composition of our first songs and, although it was difficult, Dioni and I knew that we had to continue for our followers. What surprises are prepared for the concert in Madrid? We have already closed several collaborations with some friends of the world of music, but for now we can not reveal anything. In addition, on this tour we have taken a tour of the repertoire and we are removing the material that remained in the inkwell when we published Rewind .
