A LREM MP wants to define a framework for child labor on the internet, those called "influencers". They would be at least a few dozen in France.

They are children who have become, for some, real web stars. These young "influencers", who sometimes have several million views on YouTube, are not currently governed by any legal framework. An LREM deputy, Bruno Studer, wants to remedy this by tabling on Wednesday a bill, which is likely to be adopted, to supervise the work of these children. They would be at least a few dozen in France.

These children have no contract

Among these "influencers" stars: Gabin and Lili, a brother and a sister, who test toys, food, sweets or even cosmetics on the family leather sofa, behind a brick wall. All while citing brands, so by advertising. They have more than 730,000 subscribers on YouTube. Same thing teen version, with a youtubeuse called "a ptite Jajoux", followed by more than a million followers on the video platform.

For the youngest, it is often the parents who film. But unlike young models or actors, these children have no contract. It is not known how many hours they spend there, or whether these filming interferes with their leisure time or their sleep.

"We must avoid unscrupulous parents collecting all remuneration"

Guillaume Hidrot, who heads the web videographers' guild, recognizes a real need to supervise these practices. "We can even speak of the jurisprudence 'Jordy' (from the name of the child who became a star in the 1990s, especially with his tube 'Hard, hard to be a baby'. His father had spent a large part of the profits from of his songs , editor's note . We must regulate remuneration and working time, so that unscrupulous parents do not collect on the back of their children the remuneration that would come from brand partnerships, or any form of monetization audio-visual content, "he said.

The question of image is also central. Indeed, a legal framework would allow these children to request the removal of the videos at their majority, if they do not like them.
