Google Maps: a new option for pedestrians - Geeko

To celebrate the 15th anniversary of Google Maps, a new version of the navigation application was deployed on iOS and Android on Thursday. With a new logo and new features, the update brings some nice in-depth changes, reports Clubic .

On the “redesigned” application, what immediately jumps out to the eyes of the user is obviously the new, more refined logo. Google Maps is now represented by the reference symbol of the application, in the colors of the firm.

A new logo and five new tabs

In addition to this cosmetic change, Google has added five new tabs to its GPS application. The "Routes" tab offers the user to study the possibility of a multimodal trip. The "Discover" tab allows you to obtain information and opinions on places close to where you are. "Saved" is used to list favorite places in one place.

With the "Contribute" tab, Google Maps wants to encourage users to share their favorites and their opinion on places visited. Finally, the "News" tab lists important or interesting places, identified by "local experts". What discover or rediscover the surroundings in a new light.
