He wanted to record a viral video and he couldn't think of anything other than pretending he had coronavirus on board an airplane. It had been two hours since Toronto took off from WestJet Flight 2702, bound for Jamaica, when the pilot had to turn around and make an emergency landing. Business Insider reports.

One of the passengers, James Potok, an aspiring instagramer, was telling everyone in the cabin that he had just returned from Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus epidemic. And of course, panic spread. "I stood up and said, 'Please listen, I just came back from Wuhan Province.' And now," Potok himself told the Canadian channel Global News.

However, it was extended more in an interview with the Toronto City News media. "I just came back from Wuhan, the capital of the coronavirus. I'm not feeling very well. Thank you," he said he had said. "It was good for advertising," he justified later.

After landing and checking that the young man was perfectly healthy, he was arrested and has been released on parole until he appears in court next March. "It is disproportionate," he defends, "it is not as if he carried a bomb attached to the body or pulled out a weapon."
