Cadillac presented the new Escalade in the United States on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday (Dutch time). The SUV has achieved cult status in the country through its many appearances in music videos from rappers and other artists.
The new Escalade shares much of its technology with the group members of Chevrolet and GMC, namely the Tahoe and the Yukon. The Escalade is traditionally a large car and the new model, again the fifth generation, is no exception.
The normal Escalade is 5.38 meters long, while the extended version kicks it up to 5.76 meters. In addition, the car is over 2 meters wide and almost 1.95 high. With 722 liters, the luggage space is also substantial. With the couch flat, it can carry 1,748 liters of stuff.
A 426 hp V8 petrol engine provides the drive. Remarkably, there is also a diesel engine available, which delivers 281 hp.
Inside the 4k-oled screen stands out. Cadillac is talking about a copy of 38 inches, although in reality it is divided into four smaller screens. It is in any case for the first time that a car manufacturer mounts an OLED screen in a new model.
The new Escalade will be launched in the US later this year. Then it's the turn of the rest of the world.
