  • Review.HP Pavilion Gaming 15: a perfect gaming laptop for less than 1,000 euros

I am writing this review of the new Yoga C940 from the laptop itself and I love it. At a time when most companies that manufacture computers cut everything to make the equipment thinner and lighter, Lenovo has been able to do so without sacrificing the tactile sensation and response of its keyboards.

This is easily one of the reasons I would recommend this team: if you are going to write three hundred words, lines of code or many emails every day, it is almost better to do it with a good feeling in them. I wish Apple had learned this instead of stepping back to do what they already did well.

But the C940 is much more than a good keyboard: it has a good 14-inch screen with 4K resolution on which you can draw with the pen that comes included and that is hidden inside the computer itself, a large touchpad to do more comfortable to move the mouse, a remarkable battery, which does not stand out; and enough power to justify a price that, I understand, not all users looking for a laptop for basic tasks want to pay, but I understand is fair: from 1,459 euros.

For that price, you also get 16GB of RAM, 1TB of hard disk (of the fast ones) and a tenth-generation Intel processor, an i7, of the most powerful for this type of computer. So at least, for that good peak of money, this team can last you for quite a few years at full capacity.

Let's talk about your performance. Do not try to edit a movie on it or photographs that weigh several gigabytes on it, but a simpler video or photos of a vacation, no problem. Intel 'Iris Plus' graphics are not going to give you to play video games either, but I doubt that a team of this size from any other company for any other price was going to run The Witcher 3.

In return, you can use it to draw. Or well, to make notes on documents, retouch photographs or simply surf the Internet as if it were a slightly chubby tablet. The screen can be completely rotated on its axis, hence it falls into the 2 in 1 category.

I love this kind of team. The concept of the Surface is the future of laptops and these 2 in 1 that make Lenovo and other companies are a middle ground between what is the traditional computer and a tablet. Although I know that many people do not find them useful, I have. And, well, that scribbling while resting the brain is something that helps me a lot in my day to day working.

And here is server, scribbled while writing

But whatever it is, the C940 is designed to work, which catches my attention a little if we consider that its screen is 4K, something that I do not need for my journalistic needs. The same with compatibility with HDR content. This computer has a real pantallón that is good in the living room, but perhaps in a laptop, I prefer something well calibrated and of this size, but without passing us. Especially if in return I get more battery.

Perhaps that is the biggest drawback I put on this computer. The C940 has a good battery that can last around 7 hours with intensive use for me: writing, watching videos on YouTube, editing something in Photoshop and, for testing it, also watching a chapter of a series on Netflix (os I recommend watching Adventure Time, which is a tremendously imaginative and inspiring series of drawings for any adult or child).

After a week using the C940, despite these problems I put, I have it in esteem. In truth, I would only ask for a little more battery and it won't change anything else. It has good materials, good performance and is beautiful, I would not be ashamed to take it out in a cafeteria to work while I wait for a meeting. Its price can go back, but I can understand that it is not aimed at a common user who would manage with less power and less luxuries, such as that 4K screen.

Lenovo makes very good laptops and continues to do so, both in this category of mixed equipment and in computers for super-executives that cost even more or for the most basic users who manage cheaper equipment. I hope it stays that way and that they never change how they do keyboards that, again, are a pleasure to use.
