Byte application download interface - Byte

After Vine closed in 2018, its co-founder, Dom Hofmann, launched Byte on Friday. The application uses the principles of the old portal. This social network makes it possible to put online videos looping and whose duration does not exceed six seconds. The beta version of Byte was already available since the end of 2018 but the final program is now downloadable on iOS or Android, says Business Insider .

The free platform intends to become a competitor of TikTok, but also of all other social networks allowing to post videos, such as Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat. She promises to provide "a new community" to lovers of Vine clips, bought by Twitter before disappearing.

Play on nostalgia

The creators of Byte count resolutely on the nostalgia of fans of the deceased social network. The recent portal's Twitter account describes it as "both familiar and new. We hope this will speak to those who felt there was something missing. ” The “very soon” arrival of a “partner program” offering remuneration to content creators is also announced in its pilot version.

Byte managers encourage users to help them improve. "Your comments have brought us to where we are today," they wrote on Twitter. "We have a lot more to offer you and we hope for your feedback as we develop," they add.
